Club Grant Activities

  1. GMRS Repeater at Rose Hill — besides obvious assistance to the general public, neighborhood watch and CERT activities that use GMRS extensively, GMRS is a “gateway drug” to ham radio
  2. Upgrade 6M (and possibly 1.25M antenna(s) at Rose Hill)
  3. Member check-in app. In an emergency, members can check-in via DTMF tones to the repeaters. An app at Rose Hill parses the DTMF tones and builds a web page indicating that the member is well. Could be expanded to other “wellness” emergency systems as well as other clubs throughout the US that are looking for RF wellness status.
  4. Construct a system that assists a scout to grow from Radio and Electronics MB to becoming a ham, and a follow-on from a Technician to a General. Part of this would also be troop- (or other youth organizations) activities that might lead to interest in ham radio. For example, ham and shortwave listening during overnight activities.
